Antique Branch Cheek Bit
A 19th century branch cheek bit. This bit has a low port.There are holes in the cheeks on each side of the mouthpiece, where this bit once had cheek bosses - probably military.
The reins attached to the bit by swivelling rein loops, one loop survives. There are small holes in the ends of the bit – possibly for the attachment of decoration.This bit has been lacquered to protect it from oxidation.
