An old Buxton Chifney driving bit. The attachments for the cheekpieces should swing through 90 degrees although in this old bit, they no longer move. . The integral curb hooks are decorative.
The mouthpiece has a medium port and egg rollers, one of which still turns. I cannot see any maker's marks.
The Chifney in the name refers to Samuel Chifney a famous jockey who lived from 1753 to 1807
Mouthpiece 5” (12.5cm), cheeks 9½” (24cm)
