A fine pair of spurs. These are made of sterling silver and hallmarked with a thistle and date from 1813, early in the Regency period & from the reign of George III.
They are also stamped "N & G", which stands for Newlands & Grierson.
The arms or heel bands are narrow and have a banded pattern on their outer surfaces. They end with a silver button on each arm, a hinged buckle is suspended from one side of each spur.
They have realatively long thin necks, also with banded decoration. Each has a sharp steel rotating rowel, two of the rowel teeth on one spur are damaged.
