14th / 15th Century Medieval Spur

A Mediaeval spur. this spur has a revolving rowel with six sharp points, the rowel still turns. It has a fairly long neck which points slightly downwards. The heel bands are curved, they would pass below the rider's ankle bone. There was once openwork decoration on both sides of the heelband, it is in good condition on one side but the other is damaged. There is a double eyelet on each of the arms which would have attached to hooks and a buckle. It is unusual for these metal loops to survive. Considering its age (approx. 14 -15th Century) in remarkably good condition.

Dimensions : 125mm (5")long not including rowel
Width 76mm (3")
