17th Century Brass Spur

This brass spur has a revolving rowel which still turns. The rowel has five points. The neck turns sharply downwards halfway along its length. The heel bands are slighly curved to accommodate the rider's ankle bone. One can still see some cast decoration where the neck attaches to the heel. There is a double eyelet on each of the arms, two hooks hang from one side and an ornate buckle is attached to the other. The buckle is still functional but there is a split in one of its bars. The spur, its rowel and buckle are all decorated with a scale pattern. It is in good condition although there are two small flaws in the metal on the inside of the heelband.

Dimensions : 146mm (5¾")long including rowel
Width 95mm (3¾")
