An Antique Adjustable Horse's Mouth Gag - Sold
A really well made piece of antique veterinary equipment - this was used to hold a horse's mouth open for inspection of the mouth and teeth.
It dates from the late 19th century.
The bars which would fit inside the mouth are curved and would have been covered in leather
The gag is opened & closed by turning a brass wingnut on the handmade steel thread.
