A Pair of Wood and Brass Stirrup
A pair of large stirrups, the treads are made of oak and the arches are made from a bent piece of hardwood. The tread is attached to the arch by small wooden dowels. Each stirrup is bound by a brass band, which is secured by brass screws. The brass has fatigued and cracked at the top of each arch. There is an extra brass rod for suspending each stirrup .
Perhaps these came from a time or place where steel and the skills to work with it were not available.
