These are 19th Century Indian stirrups cast in bronze.
They are heavy with broad rectangular treads or footplates. The arches are made in three pieces, the lower portions continue from the tread, they taper upwards with curved sides. The top arch joins them and they have a separate slot for the stirrup leather.
The arches have some cast decoration. One of the stirrups has been repaired on one side (see images)
There are some casting defects on the treads or footplates. The treads have been gouged by hand when the metal was still hot, this would have given a little extra grip.
They came from a collection of Indian stirrups in London.
