These are 19th Century Indian stirrups cast in bronze.
They are heavy. They are smaller than contemporary European stirrups, rigid boots would not have been worn with them. They have a slot for the stirrup leather. The arches are cast with ridges and have punched decoration.
There are some casting defects on the treads or footplates. The treads have been gouged by hand when the metal was still hot, this would have given a little extra grip.
They came from a collection of Indian stirrups in London, I think thay they come from the north f India (? Rajasthan).
