A Pair of Brazilian Stirrups
These stirrups are made of a white metal, probably a nickel alloy. The arches have separate suspension loops. There are six "beads" on each side of each arch, the top one of each column is fixed, the others can rotate.
They have plain treads or footplates which are hollow underneath - one is stamped "1079" with a knotted horn, the trademark of Eberle, a Brazilian maker from the late nineteenth and early twentieth century.
They show little wear.
