A pair of antique European stirrups - possibly Spanish or French ? These stirrups are clog or shoe-shaped.
Each is carved from a single piece of wood, either chestnut or walnut. There are age splits in the wood, there are also worm holes in both stirrups, but the worm is long dead, and the wood has a lovely aged patina.
The edges and toes of both stirrups are covered in brass and they have brass suspension arches. The arches move a little and one stirrup has lost the strip of brass from the back of its tread.
I have seen similar stirrups described as "pig nosed" or "nez de cochon" stirrups because of their shape
