These large heavy stirrups are made of iron. They probably date from the late 19th Century.
They have gently arched rectangular footplates or treads, each has a central arrangement of keyhole shaped holes.
The corners of these treads are worn (see images) The curved triangular sides of the stirrup have been varnished, but traces of incised decoration can still be seen.
The suspension arches also have traces of decoration, and each has a punched oval maker's mark or signature.
