A Pair of Brass Stirrups with Female Nude Decoration
These Brazilian stirrupa are made of brass.
They are heavy and probably date from the early 20th Century.
They are decorated on each side with a cast female figure - someone told me that she might represent "the Mother of the Nation" or something similar, but in any event she's lost her shirt at some point.
The base of one stirrup is stamped "Deposé" , which is sometimes seen on conquistador stirrups of the region, it relates to patents.
The stirrups are in excellent condition, with only light scratches from wear and a small dark stain on one of the treads.
