Antique Riding Whip with Chinese carved ivory handle
This whip has an intricately carved ivory handle which shows a dragon and moths or butterflies. There is a gilt collar with engine turned decoration and an oval area engraved with a bird, probably a cockerel.
The long, thin shaft of the whip is covered in cream coloured braided whalebone or balleen. The lash is missing at the moment but can be replaced easily. The whalebone braiding has rubbed in four places, these can be lacquered over.
