Antique horn whip with silver handle
This unusual riding whip or cane was made from a length of slightly translucent horn (probably cow or buffalo horn that has been steamed & straightened).
The handle is silver with bamboo decoration, probably indicating an oriental origin, perhaps the whip was made for an ex-pat in the far east.
There is a small (2mm) split in the back of the collar, but this can only be seen on close examination. I have left the handle unpolished to allow the details to be seen in a photograph, but it would shine beautifully if polished.
