A Pair of 19th Century Military Stirrups - Sold

A pair of stirrups from the late 19th century

The arches are quite fine, with integral suspension loops
The hollow oval treads have a central bar and hand punched marks to help grip
The undersides of the treads are stamped with broad arrows or ordnance marks and the number "88" (Possibly a date stamp for 1888?)
They also have the maker's / supplier's stamps "Grubb" & "Moreton" - Oliver Grubb and his sons Oliver and Walter were recorded as harness makers in Fenny Compton (near Moreton Morrell in Warwickshire in the 1891 census.
They are also stamped "Solid Nikel"(sic).
I have not polished them.

Dimensions : Width 4½" (11.5cm), height 5¾" (14.6cm), depth of tread 2½" (6.5cm)
Weight : 662g (1lb 7½oz)

Shipping

I will charge actual shipping costs (in this case first class with insurance), with no additional handling fees. I have quoted the cost for the UK - please email me for other destinations. I am happy to combine shipping costs if more than one item is bought.

Refunds

I will refund payment (minus shipping costs) if you are not happy with an item for any reason & contact me (promptly please) & return it. If I've described it inaccurately, I'll refund the shipping cost as well. If there has been damage in transit, please keep the item and the packaging until we have sorted out the insurance.
